The Resident Champion Training program was created to empower community members in Centennial, Littleton, Englewood, and Sheridan with tools and knowledge about recycling and waste diversion. The training helped participants understand the benefits of recycling, how local systems work, and how to share this information with neighbors and community groups.

To support local leaders in spreading the word about recycling, we developed the Resident Champion Training Toolkit. This resource was designed to give residents clear, practical information to help advocate for waste diversion in their South Metro communities.

The toolkit covers six key areas: the community benefits of recycling, answers to common questions, tips for sharing information, what can and can’t be recycled, best practices for peer-to-peer outreach, and a list of local resources. To make the materials accessible to more households, everything was created in both English and Spanish.
